Significant Concept:

Systems provide a pathway for creativity.
Area of Interaction:
Human Ingenuity
Awareness and understanding of how new software systems have democratized technology.
Unit Question:

Context:

Can you read and write?
Literacy, in the traditional sense, can be described and being able to read and write. The same can be said for digital literacy. To consider yourself truly literate, you need to not only consume technology (read) but you need to be able to create with technology as well (write). In the recent past, only a relatively few people with years of training, working for large corporations could create applications.
You needed technical expertise to be creative.

Today new software has enabled anyone to create their own apps and bring them to market quite easily without needing know how to 'code'. You just need a little creativity, originality and the time to learn the software system.
Task:

Almost all teenagers are experts in playing electronic games on many types of digital devices. Can we use these hours spent playing apps to design the next Angry Birds? You will design and make a simple and fun game app using GameSalad. Firstly you need to complete some tutorials to become familiar with GameSalad and then you are free to design and create any game you like.

Your success criteria will be: originality, gameplay and simply how much fun they are to play.

Plan Objectives:

Plan a Product or Solution
  • Construct a plan to create the product/solution that has a series of logical steps

  • Construct a plan to create the product/solution that makes effective use of resources and time

  • Evaluate the plan and justify any modifications to the design.
